Vintages Availables:

Ch. MARGAUX 1981 : $676
"In weight and texture, the 1981 Margaux is closest in style to the 1979. It is an outstanding wine, even in the company of the monumental wines of 1982, 1983, and 1986, although it does not have the power and weight of these vintages. Anticipated maturity: Now-2015."

Ch. MARGAUX 1982 : $2 319
"Magnificently concentrated and expansive on the palate, this voluptuously styled, huge, lavishly rich, overwhelming style of Chateau Margaux is almost too much of a good thing. Its low acidity and huge tannins in the finish make it approachable, so I would not quibble with anyone who wants to drink it."

Ch. MARGAUX 1985 : $971
"While not as powerful and concentrated as the 1986, 1983, or 1982, the 1985 Margaux is more charming and, at present, more complex than those more backward vintages. It is one of the most delicious and seductively opulent Margauxs of the last two decades. I consistently underestimated this wine when young. It gets better every time I re-taste it, which happens with increasing frequency. Anticipated maturity: Now-2010."

Ch. MARGAUX 1986 : $1 082
"The 1986 Margaux continues to be the most powerful, tannic, and muscular Margaux made in decades. The wine is mammoth, with extraordinary extract, superb balance, and a frightfully tannic finish. This is a Margaux of immense stature, made in a masculine, full-bodied style. It should prove nearly immortal in terms of aging potential, but will it have the awesome potential I first predicted? Anticipated maturity: 2000-2050."

Ch. MARGAUX 1989 : $884
"The precocious, flattering 1989 exhibits a deep ruby color, a moderately intense bouquet of cassis, oak, and spring flowers, a medium to full-bodied texture, excellent concentration, and an expansive, long, moderately tannic finish."

Ch. MARGAUX 1990 : $2 121
"The 1990 Margaux continues to be the quintessential example of this chateau. The tannins are significant but tender, and the wine is expansive, with remarkable finesse, richness, and a smooth-as-silk finish. The wine's exceptional richness and harmony are hallmarks. This vintage gets my nod as the most classic example of Margaux made under the Menzelopoulos administration. 1990 is a majestic vintage for Chateau Margaux, as well as one of the greatest wines of this superb vintage. Anticipated maturity: 1997-2020."

Ch. MARGAUX 1991 : $478
"Margaux's 1991 is a candidate for "wine of the vintage." It reveals a deep ruby color, and a tight but promising nose of rich cassis, licorice, and toasty new oak. Dense, medium to full-bodied, with plenty of depth, it possesses moderate tannin and a long, rich finish."

Ch. MARGAUX 1992 : $408
"The wine is smooth, supple, wonderfully ripe, and seductive, with medium body, low acidity, and light tannin in the finish. It is drinking extremely well. Some tasters will no doubt rate it even higher than I have, given its elegance and layers of ripe, generous fruit that are presented in a medium-bodied format. This impressive wine should drink well for 10-15 years."

Ch. MARGAUX 1993 : $478
"Margaux's 1993 is atypically supple and seductive. It offers an impressively saturated ruby/purple color, an intense fragrance of red and black fruits, toast, and spring flowers, and a voluptuously-textured, multi-layered personality, with expansive, sweet, ripe fruit. It is surprisingly forward, without the mouth-aching tannin possessed by many 1993s. The wine is medium to full-bodied, beautifully pure, and reminiscent of this property's splendid 1985. Capable of lasting for 20-25 years, it should turn out to be one of the most seductive and popular 1993 clarets. Very impressive!"

Ch. MARGAUX 1995 : $794
"The wine is medium to full-bodied, with extraordinary richness, fabulous equilibrium, and hefty tannin in the finish. In spite of its large size and youthfulness, this wine is user-friendly and accessible. This is a thrilling Margaux that will always be softer and more evolved than its broader-shouldered sibling, the 1996. How fascinating it will be to follow the evolution of both of these vintages over the next half century. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2040."

Ch. MARGAUX 1996 : $1 190
"The 1996 Chateau Margaux, which was bottled in September, 1998, is undoubtedly one of the great classics produced under the Mentzelopoulos regime. In many respects, it is the quintessential Chateau Margaux, as well as the paradigm for this estate, combining measured power, extraordinary elegance, and admirable complexity. I tasted the wine on three separate occasions in January, and in short, it's a beauty!"

Robert Parker: 99 pts

Ch. MARGAUX 1998 : $577
"The 1998 Margaux's color is a dense ruby/purple. The wine is tannic and austere, but elegant, with notes of asphalt, blackberries, acacia flowers, and sweet, toasty oak. Subtle, rich, nicely-textured, and medium-bodied, it is built for the long haul. Anticipated maturity: 2006-2030."
