Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1982 : $2,081 /btle
"This wine has proven to be one of Bordeaux's modern day legends. Absolutely spectacular for its first 7-8 years after bottling, the wine has gradually begun to reveal more delineation, structure, and tannin. The only question millionaire collectors should ask about the 1982, is whether the 1990 will rival it? Both are awesome wines! Anticipated maturity: now -2015."

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1983 : $893 /btle
"A classic example of Cheval Blanc's style, the 1983 continues to put on weight and develop favorably in the bottle. Gorgeous for drinking now, this is a great Cheval Blanc that should continue to drink well, and possibly improve for another 20 years. The 1983 is far superior to anything Cheval Blanc has subsequently produced. It remains somewhat undervalued for its quality."

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1985 : $933 /btle
"Fully mature, but capable of lasting another 10-15 years, this flamboyantly scented wine (jammy black fruits, licorice, Asian spices, herbs, grilled meats) is a lusciously rich, opulent, medium to full-bodied, fat and juicy style of Cheval Blanc that seems to get better and better every time I taste it."

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1986 : $717 /btle
"The 1986's bouquet jumps from the glass, with a combination of exotic, herbaceous, curranty scents intermingled with sweet, vanilla-scented new oak. The wine is splendidly rich, lush, forward, and evolved for a 1986. Anticipated maturity: 1999-2012"

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1988 : $497 /btle
"The 1988 is more structured, less alcoholic and less intense than the 1989. It exhibits fine ripeness, and a cool, almost menthol, plummy bouquet intertwined with aromas of smoke and new oak. It is a very good Cheval Blanc."

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1989 : $755 /btle
"The 1989 is an excellent wine, but I had expected more power, depth, and intensity than the wine currently reveals. There is excellent depth, but when you compare the 1989 with the 1990, 1986, 1985, 1983, and 1982 (the best vintages of the eighties), the 1989 does not possess similar concentration or complexity."

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1990 : $2,378 /btle
The 1990 is increasingly sumptuous with each additional tasting. I am increasingly convinced that this is the most profound Cheval Blanc since the legendary 1982. It should offer exotic opulence for at least another 15-20 years. A compelling Cheval Blanc!"

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1994 : $379 /btle
"As I have written many times in the past, Cheval Blanc has a tendency to fatten up, put on weight, and expand both aromatically and texturally with age, so perhaps this wine will move in that direction. If it does, my rating will appear unduly conservative."

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1995 : $735 /btle
A pretty, attractive Cheval Blanc, the 1995 contains a higher percentage of Merlot in the final blend than usual (50% Merlot/50% Cabernet Franc). This wine has not developed as much fat or weight as its younger sibling, the 1996, but it appears to be an outstanding Cheval Blanc. Anticipated maturity: 2002-2020.

Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1998 : $1 190 /btle
"The oak, texture, acidity, and tannin are all beautifully integrated. While full-bodied, elegant, concentrated, and impeccably balanced, it requires several years of cellaring. Anticipated maturity: 2004-2020."

MAGNUM Ch. CHEVAL BLANC 1986 : $1 329 /btle
